The Ravenswood Trombone Quartet will perform on Sat. March 15, 2025 at 3:00 pm with a medley of pieces from ancient to contemporary. The concert, titled Centuries of Sackbut (“sackbut” is an ancient word for an early form of the trombone) features selections by Franz Joseph Haydn, Caterina Assandra, Felix Mendelssohn, and Melba Liston, among others.
Formed in 2024, the Ravenswood Trombone Quartet represents some of Chicago’s busiest trombone performers and educators. Hailing from as close as Belmont and Ashland to as far as Atlanta, Georgia, they explore the 500-year history of their instrument with curiosity and creativity. Please invite your family and friends to this rare opportunity to hear this local talented ensemble. Admission is free. (You’ll see a familiar face as Catie Hickey has performed previously at Immanuel as a guest musician for several special worship services.)
