Immanuel has a long and proud tradition of providing beautiful, hand-made quilts to refugees and those in need in our community and around the world. Quilters meet twice a month on the first and third Thursdays, from 9:00 am to Noon. We create works of love to provide warmth and shelter from 100% donated fabric. Lutheran World Relief provides the specification and the delivery.

The best part of our story is that as  our church women have aged, died, or moved away, other women and some young girls have joined us to continue the work. The last few years we have crafted close to 200 quilts per year; in 2024 we expect to exceed 200. We have a quilt blessing as part of our Sunday worship before sending the quilts on their way.

We think about how someone will be warmed, or shaded, or bedded, or pleased to have one of our quilts.  They are collected and distributed by Lutheran World Relief to refugee camps and places of poverty and need around the world. We are aware that if this is the only blanket they have, it should be as beautiful, colorful, durable, and artistic as we can make it. We are blessed to share in this work and we invite you to participate in our joy by donating cotton fabric, or money for batting, or your time by joining us.  You are welcome.  No special skill is needed.  Email the church office at for more information.
